The 146th Baba Harivallabh Sangeet Sammelan was recently hosted from December 24 to 26 in Jalandhar. The first festival was held in 1875, and since then the festival is being held every year with the main objective of encouraging more and more people for the development of classical Music. The festival was held at the samadhi of Baba Harivallabh (Harballabh) – a saint and an exponent of Hindustani Classical Music. Declared as one of the National Festivals by the Department of Tourism, Government of India, the festival has been attended by Mahatma Gandhi and Pandit Vishnu Digambar Paluskar in past decades.
